Fresno Says ‘NO’ to Hate Crimes
The Justice For Patty Dawson Committee held a Press Conference today in Fresno. (14:25 minute) Video from the Press Conference is below.
The following is from the Press Release issued by the Justice for Patty Dawson Committee
June 14th, 2012 marks the one year anniversary of the hate crime/incident against Patty Dawson, a Navajo and San Carlos Apache woman who was assaulted to the point of unconsciousness after being chased by alleged racists in Tarpey Village. There will be a press conference organized by the Justice for Patty Dawson Committee bringing to light the background of the incident, where the case is at now and a call to action to bring justice to Patty Dawson, her family, community and other victims of hate crimes in Fresno County and the Central Valley.
The press conference will take place at noon near the east side entrance of the Fresno County Courthouse. Members of the Patty Dawson Committee will be available for interviews and questions.
Patty Dawson (Vasquez), a Navajo and San Carlos Apache woman was assaulted on June 14 2011 after being chased in her vehicle by Jennifer Fraser, husband Eric Hansen and another male in a Fresno County Island IN Clovis referred to as Tarpey Village. Only Jennifer Fraser was arrested and charged with a felony assault with intent to commit bodily harm. We are nearing the anniversary of the incident, which left Dawson with a concussion, broken nose, crushed nasal passages, a broken bone under her eye, and bruised ribs. Her lower back continues to bother her to this day. She has missed numerous workdays of her part time employment working as a LVN for special needs students, first to heal from the beating and second to attend court cases. It has affected her spiritually, emotionally and financially. WE DEMAND MORE TO MAKE SURE THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN TO ANOTHER WOMAN DRIVING ALONE THRU CLOVIS. WE DEMAND THAT FRASER AND HER ACCOMPLISES BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. We will inform the media and others why we believe that they system failed and continues to fail Patty from the very beginning of this case. WE DEMAND JUSTICE FOR PATTY DAWSON.
