Turkey, Labor, The Islamic Gülen Movement & The US: An interview with Ertuğrul Kürkçü

Ertuğrul Kürkçü, a member of the Turkish parliament representing the city of Mersen and the Peace and Demcoracy party discussed the political situation in Turkey including the AKP government and the national and international role of the Gulen Movement. This movement is now the largest operator of charter schools in the United States and supported by many US politicians.
Turkey has been a loyal ally of the United States government including Democrats and Republicans and has implemented the US policies of deregulation and privatization pushed through by the IMF, World Bank and WTO. He discusses how these policies have affected the people of Turkey as well.

Ertuğrul Kürkçü who is a member of the parliament of Turkey representing Mersen and the
Peace and Democracy Party discusses the political situation in Turkey including the the
role of the AKP, the working class, the Kurdish people and the political role of the Gülen
Islamic movement including their support for education changes that are destroying secular
education in Turkey and the United States. Fethullah Gülen is a Turkish Islamic cult leader
who is based in the United States and lives in the Philadelphia area. Kürkçü also connects
the jailing of Turkish journalists who expose his connections with the police in Turkey.
Over 94 are in prison in Turkey for writing about the political and economic conditions.
Ahmet Şık was one of the journalists jailed for writing about the Gülen movement connection
to the police in Turkey.
Kürkçü also talks about the role of the United States and the Turkish government in the MIddle
East. This interview took place on May 8, 2012 in Ankara, Turkey.

Ahmet Şık was jailed by the Turkish government and police for writing a book about the connection between the Gulen Movement and the police in Turkey. These powerful connections are used to repress jounalists who report on the connections between Gulen and the government. The US government and many politicians Democrat and Republican have given millions of dollars to Gulen's large network of charter schools in the United States while public schools are being closed and privatized.
