Teach-In on the 9th Anniversary of the U.S. Invasion of Iraq
• The myth of a U.S. “Victory ” & the real costs of the Iraq war • Washington’s drive for “regime change” in Syria, Iran and Lebanon • Afghanistan-30 years of war, Palestine-64 years of occupation • Is Obama’s foreign policy different than Bush’s?
March 2012 marks the 9th anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Iraq. After a devastating war, most U.S. troops are out of Iraq but Washington’s long-term quest for domination of the oil-rich and strategic Middle East and Central Asia continues. Following the overthrow of the government in Libya, U.S. leaders are stepping up their campaigns for regime change in Syria and Iran, and at the same time trying to limit the advances of the people in Egypt and Tunisia. While it claims to champion “democracy,” the U.S. allies are the most reactionary monarchies from Saudi Arabia to Bahrain to Morocco, along with the racist, apartheid state of Israel. Join us for presentations by a panel of activists who have first-hand knowledge of the real situation in the Middle East. A discussion period will follow.
