An open letter to the City of Oakland against Oakland Police violence & the mechanisms of oppression
The night before the second raid on Occupy; A Citizen

There is a storm brewing in my city and in a few hours a few blocks from every part of the city people will be hurt, my city will be forever irreparably harmed. I was born here, and I have almost died here too many times. I condemn the city government for this action they are about to undertake, and the actions they have taken in the past. I condemn their complicity in an ongoing campaign of terror, murder and oppression by the Oakland Police upon innocent residents. Too often elected persons will separate themselves strategically and condemn police brutality on platforms of political convenience, then call upon the Police to operate outside of the law when the city government has an agenda. When the agenda is the disruption of constitutional rights and the continuation of a criminal empire, then the city government cannot call themselves neutral in the harm to the people, they become the orchestrator of the violence. The police are now the arm, the henchmen & violent arm; co-conspirators to civil and criminal offenses committed by Oakland Police on behalf of the criminal city government.
Notice to Oakland City government; I condemn your police action. My condemnation is irrelevant to my belief or non belief in the Occupy Movement, or in any political movement in a healthy democracy, my condemnation of the proposed actions by Oakland City Government & Police, is based upon my right and obligation to defend against tyranny, defend my neighbor against tyranny, and to defend my nation against tyrannical assaults upon their human rights, rights as citizens, and assaults against the law of the nation by elected officials and those who wear badges. I understand it makes you afraid, and you are fighting to hold onto the now legally illegitimate power of Oakland City government, that the idea that a population can reject your ideals, reject your leadership, structures and other vessels of an ideology that have never been successful, and governance that has repeatedly to fail to uphold, protect, preserve or propagate the law or even the most basic dignities of life, the idea that a population will place you under lawful citizens arrest, that these ideas strike terror in your heart, but in the hearts of the people who will hurl unarmed bodies against a military force, those hearts beat, freedom.
The People are tired of not being heard, not having rights respected, honored, upheld, and when they get tired enough they will fight you, and the more bullets you shoot, the bigger bombs you drop, you only make martyrs for a cause that is bigger than your petty positions of insane authority. When a man or woman is willing to stand unarmed in solidarity without wavering, or falling from the fear you hope to instill, but still standing at the end of your gun you will know freedom is stronger than oppression because it is born from the hearts of humanity. Your authority is granted at the leisure of the people, and the people have spoken, your resignation is at hand. The people have spoken in many voices, in tongues, in unison, as individuals, as community leaders, and our cries have fallen upon deaf ears.
So as you strike down my brother, my sister in this assault, you may think you can count on varying concepts of our political ideology for protection in this criminal act, you can also count on the fact that we are united in the demand that you are held to a legal standard for which you have failed to meet, or even consider, and in that failure you have made your governance void of authenticity under the law, count on the fact that a larger unity will hold the light for those who may fall to this temporary tyranny. Remember by striking down one, you build strength and power for the force coming to the door demanding radical systemic changes, an equal and just society, and the respect of human rights worldwide, and right here in our back yards. We are the People, and we will keep coming. by LW ART 2011 (c) http://www.LetheaART.com
