6th Annual Mardi Gras San Francisco Style, Fat Tuesday in the Fillmore

This year’s 6th Annual Mardi Gras San Francisco Style, Fat Tuesday in the Fillmore Fundraiser will once again bring the San Francisco Fillmore Music District alive with a masquerade ball, free concerts, street artists, performers, New Orleans style processionals, along with food/drink and other specials offered by numerous Fillmore restaurants, clubs and businesses. Satisfy your palate with a myriad of eclectic delectable eats, from homemade cookies and ice cream at Bumzy’s Cookies to chicken & waffles at Gussie’s, with Yoshi’s Japanese and Rassales & Sheba’s Lounge’s Ethiopian cusines in between.

The four day celebration begins Saturday February 18th, with a free kick-off concert in the Fillmore Plaza, featuring The Jah Summit Band (Reggae). The Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball at the West Bay Conference Center is the crown jewel of Fat Tuesday, February 21, featuring Bobby Webb’s Smooth Blues Band, with a guest performance by Ziek Carter. There will be a free pre-ball concert at the Fillmore plaza from 5pm to 7 pm, street artists and performers and a final festive processional to the ball, where you will enjoy an evening of New Orleans style food, dancing to a DJ, costume contest, raffles and plenty of partying.

Tickets: individual $35 individuals & $60. Couples; at door: $45 individual & $70 couples. Ticket price also allows you to enjoy specials offered by numerous Fillmore restaurants, businesses and admission to both Saturday’s night after party at Rassales and Tuesday’s Masquerade Ball. Saturday, February 18 - 2 pm to 5 pm: free kick-off concert in the Fillmore Plaza (1475 Fillmore) featuring The Jah Summit Band (Reggae) & Village Kids Chorus; kiddies park; music & street performances at Bumzy’s Cookie (1460 Fillmore); processional down Fillmore Corridor; Rassales Jazz Club (1534 Fillmore ) 8 pm until: after party - $15.00- free with ticket/wrist band; Yoshi’s (1330 Fillmore): 8pm & 10pm; KENNY LATTIMORE; Jazz Heritage Center (1325 Fillmore) 8 pm: Drink & food specials at Gussies Chicken & Waffles & Sheba’s Piano Lounge

Sunday, February 19 - Yoshi’s: 2 pm: A memorial benefit concert, celebrating Eddie Marshall, featuring Bobby McFerrin, Bobby Hutcherson, and Holy Mischief’; 3pm:: processional a la New Orleans style from the St. John Coltrane Church (1286 Fillmore) parading up Fillmore Street to a social with more music at the historic Bop City club, now the home of Marcus Books; Jazz Heritage Center: 5:30 to 7:30 pm: Jam session featuring the house band for the 57th Street Gallery in Oakland; Yoshi’s – 6pm & 8 pm – Kenny Lattimore.

Monday, February 20 – Rassales: 8 pm: - pre-Masquerade jam session and open mic

Fat Tuesday, February 21 – 5 to 7 pm: Free Concert in Fillmore Center Plaza – Bobby Webb & Smooth Blues Band; 7 to 8 pm: MJ Brass Boopers’ processional along Fillmore Corridor; street artists and performers and a final festive processional to the Ball; 8 pm to 11 pm: The sixth Annual Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball, West Bay Conference Center, 1290 Fillmore the crown jewel of Fat Tuesday, featuring Bobby Webb’s Smooth Blues Band & Ziek Carter, where you will enjoy food, dancing to a DJ, costume contest and raffles; Sheba’s Lounge: 8 pm – Latin Breeze; Drink & food specials at Gussies Chicken & Waffles
