January 22 marks the day that the Supreme Court legalized abortion in the historic Roe v Wade decision. For the past several years, religious conservatives have paraded their misogyny in a march through downtown San Francisco to coincide with this occasion. For the first time, this year their procession will be on Market Street, not the Embarcadero.

Radical Women calls on all advocates of reproductive freedom to turn out in opposition to this rightwing event. Despite the advice of C.W. Nevius in the SF Chronicle (1/17/12), ignoring the ultra-right is the most dangerous response. Adherents, and those they hope to attract, need to know that there is a movement ready to fight for the rights of women. As the antis stream by, we will be on the sidewalk expressing our support for reproductive rights.

Gather at 1:00pm on Market Street (cross street Steuart St.) across from Justin Herman Plaza (their procession begins at 1:30pm at Civic Center heading to Justin Herman Plaza). Bring your chants and picket signs!

The Bay Area Coalition for Our Reproductive Rights is staging a rally at Justin Herman Plaza 11:00am-1:00pm. We will participate in this event and urge others there to stay for the counter-demonstration which follows.

Work party to help make picket signs, pack lit etc.
