12th day of daily arrests at Occupy Fresno
Occupy Fresno still going strong despite daily arrests.
Today marked the 12th day of daily arrests at Occupy Fresno. We've had 75 arrests of people standing up for their rights to peacefully assemble at Fresnos Courthouse. Our team of lawyers have filled a lawsuit and temporary restraining order against the Sheriffs department and the County of Fresno to stop the arrests. We have a hearing on the TRO early next month in Federal Court.
The arrests have not stoped us from organizing around the occupation movement. We've had weekly protests in front of Bank of America, Wells Fargo and Chase banks. We've also attended school board meetings and asked the top administrators to take a pay cut and put the money back into the classroom. We've been recruiting folks at local colleges, churches, etc. We even marched in the Fresno Veterans day parade. The parade is the largest west of the Mississippi with over 40 thousand spectators.
