RetireSafe Presents 2011 “Standing Up for America’s Seniors” Award
Modesto, Calif. — On Thursday, November 10, RetireSafe, representing 400,000 seniors nationwide, joined by local senior advocates, honored Representative Denham for his efforts to protect the health benefits and security of California’s seniors and disabled citizens.
Al Cors, Jr. of RetireSafe, Eric Race of Atlas Lift Tech and Richard Gibson, President of the Stanislaus County Commission on Aging, presented the RetireSafe “Standing Up For America’s Seniors” Award commemorative plaque in Modesto, recognizing Denham’s accomplishments and service to older Americans.
A bipartisan group of Members of Congress are being recognized by RetireSafe on Capitol Hill and in their home districts throughout October and November. These members have acted to protect seniors’ health care benefits, by ensuring access to affordable medications through Medicare Part D, and opposing proposals that threaten to limit access to health care and increase premiums for seniors in the Medicare program.
“It seems Medicare is being attacked from all directions,” said RetireSafe President, Thair Phillips, “seniors need champions in Washington who are on their side, who aren’t afraid to stand up and preserve the benefits that our older Americans have earned,” he continued. “RetireSafe felt it was time to stop for a moment, rise above the rhetoric, and recognize the Members of Congress who, in many different ways, have worked to protect this lifesaving and essential benefit,” he concluded.
