SUPPORT THE PELICAN BAY HUNGER STRIKERS!
SUPPORT THE ONGOING STRUGGLE!
From July 1-20, thousands of prisoners in the state of California, composed of all races, went on a hunger strike. They united around five demands raised by Pelican Bay State Prison inmates directed against gross human rights violations.
1. End Group Punishment & Administrative Abuse.
2. Abolish the Debriefing Policy, and Modify Active/Inactive Gang Status Criteria.
3. Comply with the US Commission on Safety and Abuse in America’s Prisons 2006 Recommendations Regarding an End to Long-Term Solitary Confinement.
4. Provide Adequate and Nutritious Food.
5. Expand and Provide Constructive Programming and Privileges for Indefinite SHU Status Inmates.
The courageous protest of the prisoners as well as the solidarity of thousands of people around the world have been successful in exposing the illegal and inhuman conditions that tens of thousands of inmates are subjected to at the hands of California’s prison system.
The prisoners have vowed to continue the fight until the CDCR (California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation) ends its illegal policies and practices.
Join us on Aug. 23 at the State Capitol to continue the struggle!
