Attack on Sheriff's Department Vehicle

by anonymous
Attack on Sheriff's Department Vehicle
On the night of June 1st, a truck belonging to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Department had all of its windows covered in etching fluid. The truck, parked outside the county jail, was attacked as an expression of solidarity with prisoners everywhere. Luciano and Amelia were also in our hearts when this action was taken; your strength inspires ours.

War on prison society, brah.

Prisoners of the notorious SHU (Special Housing Unit) at California's remote and maximum security Pelican Bay facility declared a hunger strike would begin on July 1st with five key demands:

1. Eliminate group punishments
2. Abolish the debriefing policy and modify active/inactive gang status criteria (segregation and punishment policy)
3. Comply with the recommendations of the US Commission on Safety and Abuse in Prisons (2006) regarding an end to long-term solitary confinement
4. Provide adequate food
5. Expand and provide constructive programs and privileges for indefinite SHU inmates

"War on prison society, brah" (?!?)

I assume the action took place on *July* 1st? Maybe our intrepid local "brah" might have missed the month,? Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought the prison society reference could use some context, even if timing is a coincidence. The SHU is an inhumane hell, by all accounts. Learn more about this unprecedented action by the prisoners who "live" there. Read more here: http://prisonerhungerstrikesolidarity.wordpress.com/

i encourage this article and the solidarity behind it, despite the date!

I made a legitimate comment regarding this so-called revolutionary action by someone who appears to be a careless child with caustic substances, and it was removed for WHAT REASON?

Dry Snitching: "To reveal a secret or to draw unwanted attention to another person under the guise of doing it accidentally, doing it for the person’s own good, or being helpful."

http://www.doubletongued.org/index.php/citations/dry_snitching_1/

It also applies to being in your own little world to the point that you don't see the unintended and counterproductive results of your actions.

Like a junkie getting their disability check on the first, and while the narcs watch, goes running straight to his connection.

He didn't mean to get his connection busted but...

Indeed... Just last night a friend of mine who camps and stashes his stuff near San Lorenzo Park reported that his friends were woken up and told to leave... They'd been there for months. Another gent who has slept in the same doorway for the last two years with permission of the business owner, albeit sleeping in plain view and subject to camping laws received a citation this morning and will no longer be able to stay where he has 'resided' either.

Coincidence? I think not... Pussy wannbe anarchist with a little bottle of etching fluid causing problems for everyone but themselves and the target is more like it.

You REALLY think the Sheriffs care about that windshield? The fucking taxpayers replace it, and it just lets them know that school is out and the losers are running loose without parental supervision, so they'll secure themselves better.

That helps? Are you really stupid enough to think they're trembling in their shiny black shoes because of this?

Get a strategy... then get back to me.

For now I consider whoever did this to be a moron, or a snitch, a provocateur, or all three.

So you accuse the cops of collective punishment on the poor for a minor act of vandalism?

And it's the vandal you're mad at?

Walk on eggshells much?

You would have hated the successes of the Nazi resistance. Convinced that collective punishment was failing because it wasn't severe enough, the führer issued a September 1941 order to use "the harshest measures" against civilians in areas where the Resistance was active. Arguing that "only the [collective] death penalty can be a real means of deterrence," Hitler ordered that 50 civilians be executed for each German soldier killed.

"You would have hated the successes of the Nazi resistance. Convinced that collective punishment was failing because it was failing because it wasn't severe enough,"

No... that's what you'd imply if you actually came out and supported this moron instead of talking around the issue and attempting to put words in my mouth. Some of them, like the White Rose, felt that way... some of them didn't.

But none of them acted in callous disregard for the end results of their actions, and the jackwad who did this probably didn't even klnow the target area well enough to know that people slept in the vicinity (Because this person undoubtedly is housed... ie. protected from retaliation)

FWIW, I'm a 2nd gen descendant of Eastern European/Central Asian Jews and I find your comment ignorant and crass, if not anti-semitic by comparing the Santa Cruz Sheriffs, or anyone else, to Nazis.

They aren't Nazis... The Nazis, like my Zionist father, are all dead now, and all that remain are skinhead anti-Semite posers, one of whom actually had the nerve to tell me at one point when he thought I could help him after being busted "Jews are OK with us! Sholom Alechim", to match the Anarcho-posers of Santa Cruz like the idiot who thought that etching a police vehicle windshield is somehow "Revolutionary".

It isn't.... any more than being anti-semitic makes one a "Nazi".

"So you accuse the cops of collective punishment on the poor for a minor act of vandalism?

No, I'm accusing the person or persons who did this to be setting the homeless up for retaliation. Double check that definition of "DRY SNITCH", or the term Useful Idiot, which is usually a moniker applied to the left by the right, but also applies to "loose canons' on the socio-political deck of either side.

I'm saying the person who did this has no strategy at all and is most likely a bored High School kid who intentionally or not, has caused a circumstance that has done NOTHING to further any sort of 'liberation' (I'm SURE the sheriffs are shaking in their shoes over this) and has caused a great deal more stress on the already stressed lives of the homeless, who have traditionally slept near the court house to evade city laws in regard to camping.

The person who did this FORCED the imposition of collective punishment by their actions.

Does that clarify it for you?

I don't know if someone stole it (unlikely, it went away in the daylight during the last couple of hours) or just vandalized it, but there is now a little less funding for the next quasi-cop hire downtown via their new Panhandling Parking Meters (... Which IS what the DTA intends to do with the alleged 'social services' money). These emplacements come with a mandatory 14 foot stay away buffer for the poor, and no, putting a quarter in the meter will NOT allow one to use the space to panhandle or hawk their wares until the meter runs out.

To whomever removed, or forced it's removal... Bravo!
