PFC Bradley Manning, 23, has been held in solitary confinement in the military brig, first in Kuwait and now Quantico, VA, since May, 2010, when he was arrested and accused of leaking classified information to the online whistleblower site, WikiLeaks . Gay identified, Manning has been held without trial now for 11 months and subjected to increasingly harsh and punitive treatment, including forced nudity and sleep deprivation. His case has garnered international media attention, leading notable figures such as Daniel Ellsberg and filmmaker Michael Moore to speak out in his support. Amnesty International and the United Nations have taken up his cause.
Bradley Manning Support Network steering committee member Loraine Reitman will speak about Manning, the international, grassroots movement to lend him support, and his recent move from Quantico to Leavenworth. The informational presentation will be followed by a question and answer period.
