"Take Back Santa Cruz" and the SCPD Pal Up

by Robert Norse
A public event uniting old buddies SCPD and "Take Back Santa Cruz" is open to the public for those who want to watch this love fest. Analicia Cube and other leading figures of TBSC have not publicly supported the rights of homeless people nor indicated to their clean-up crews that special care should be taken so as not to disturb homeless property--something Save Our Shores does regularly. An earlier discussion is described in some of the links below.
For more background on "Take Back Santa Cruz"--a group which has targeted "bad behavior" and "illegal campers" in the past--see http://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2010/06/02/18649646.php?show_comments=1#18650516

The upcoming meeting is described by KION:

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The Santa Cruz Police Department will meet with residents and the group "Take Back Santa Cruz" to talk about how to fight crime in the city. The meeting will be held this Wednesday from 6pm to 7pm at the University of California Santa Cruz Inn at 611 Ocean Street. Police say they would like to give the community a chance to voice their concerns while making a crime fighting partnership.

I saw on the evening snooze that there is a group in the North Bay called Take Back Antioch. They were on the snooze talking about the local police dept's solution to understaffing: People with minor/non-life-threatening complaints such as graffiti and identity theft can file a report online. People without computers can still call a flesh and blood officer to come out and take a report.
