The President of Doro-Chiba, the National Railway Union of Chiba, Japan, Yasuhiro Tanaka spoke at a rally before a march through the streets of Tokyo last week. He chastised the Japanese government for not getting supplies through to people in the areas affected by the earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear reactor explosions.
A university student movement leader called for a renewed fight for working people with union and student movements joining in solidarity. He said, "Look at what they have achieved in Egypt...something they believed to be too difficult, yet they did it!"
An Osaka municipal worker said he feared that "capitalists will use this disaster to make money".
Protesters shouted, "No war, no nukes!", "Down with the Kan administration!", "Stop all nuclear plants!", "Workers' solidarity!", "Organize workers' relief!" and "No bombardments on Libya by US, British and French imperialists!"
