The Hotel Frank in San Francisco has fired the Unite Here Local 2 shop stewards including Mark Norton in order to bust the union at their Union Square hotels including Hotel Metropolis. The owners including Portland capitalist and union buster Gordon Sondland along with AEW Capital management bought the SF hotels and are seeking to eliminate the union. The hotel manager Stan Kotz at the Mark Hotel wants the union out of the hotel.

It should be noted, however, that AEW sold Hotel Metropolis and Hotel Vertigo to another hotel operator. The new owners at Hotel Metropolis have fully restored the UNITE HERE Local 2 contract, and the hotel is no longer under boycott. Hotel Vertigo has never been Union, and remains pre-Union. I was never a Shop Steward at Hotel Frank. However, I was about to become one when I was summarily fired. |
