Breaking News: Japanese suspend their illegal whaling!
Internet chatter suggests that the Japanese have suspended their illegal whaling hunts for the Winter.
At a news conference on Friday February 18th 2011 Japanese Fisheries minister Michihiko Kano has stated they will suspend their research whaling because the Sea Shepherd activists have succeeded in their attempts to harass those who hunt and kill whales in the Antarctic region. They Japanese have said it has become increasingly difficult to secure the safety of their crew and ships while whaling.
The Sea Shepherds have stopped whaling for this Winter. But I do hope they monitor the Antarctic to make sure the Japanese are not lying.
