Dubious activities going on at the old Schlage Lock site by Arleta and Old Bayshore in SF.
Sophie Maxwell and her cronies are leading the charge to build over 1800 homes on toxic ground, surrounded by noise and dangerous particulates. Millions of vehicles pass a few feet from the site, the noisy Caltrans passes nearby, and the Brisbane Fuel Tanks spewing fumes are within sight. Not far away by Brisbane - Methane gas spews from a large site that is mostly infill - former wetlands that are part of Highway 101. People have no money, the economy has come to a standstill. Thousands of homes in foreclosure, no jobs - and here we have GREEDY developers building inferior homes.
The old Schlage Lock Factory is no more - it has been sold to GREEDY developers who have teamed with San Francisco Redevelopment Agency to build inferior homes on mostly very toxic ground. The SF Health Department and even the Bay Area Air Quality Management District - is not paying attention to the health issues. This as you all know is of paramount, importance.
The Department of Toxic and Substances Control has not done a good job. It has not monitored the site - and though some vague claims were made about the site being abated - recently, you could smell some fumes and watch the earth being shifted - from one site that is a noted toxic site on a map - dirt being removed and transported to trenches that are six to eight feet deep - on the site itself.

Their emails at: vlasky [at] dtsc.ca.gov and whagen [at] dtsc.ca.gov These so called Regulators must be taken to task and must learn to serve the people of California. I am going to bring this first hand - to the attention of the Secretary of the State of California.
Bottom line we do not need any inferior housing led by the corrupt and uncaring San Francisco Redevelopment Agency - hooking up with GREEDY developers - that are touting innocent people to buy inferior homes this must not happen - not with this ECONOMY at a standstill and people hurting for jobs.
Behind this scheme is Sophie Maxwell who is being termed out - but she has already raked in the bribes already used the money to take junkets and vacations. Sophie Maxwell has completely bluffed the community at large - and especially the innocent constituents of Visitation Valley that have not been served at all - during her term in office.
Some fake Citizen Advisory Committee meets and discusses what little tainted information is given to them by the SF Redevelopment Agency. It is so sad that folks that have no clue about Planning are dabbling with issues that are beyond them. These constituents are bluffed into participating but the end result will be one of utter disappointment and stress.
This has happened with the Citizen Advisory Committee to the Hunters Point Shipyard - at a recent meeting meeting at 1800 Oakdale on October 18, 2010.There was open bickering and fighting among the CAC members. These CAC members now KNOW and are full cognizant that they have been taken for a ride.
The SF Redevelopment Agency has now created another COMMITTEE to the Hunters Point Shipard - without consulting the CAC to the Shipyard - with the SF Redevelopment Agency Director as the Chair of the committee or group. If this is NOT conflict of interest - I do not know what is. The SF Redevelopment Agency will do anything to rake in the money and in this case it is with the Treasury Department - time will tell.
The same has happened with the HOPESF task force. The task force was created to rehabilitate, serve the Public Housing constituents, build new housing for the constituents now living in Public Housing and more.
Many promises were made to the members of the HOPESF task force. But, when the time came to ask for ACCOUNTABILITY and TRANSPARENCY - those that were asking the questions - were segregated and soon removed from office and shunned. All this happening in the Bayview Hunters Point, Little Hollywood, and Visitation Valley.
Bridge Developers, John Stewart Company, Mercy Housing - are all outsiders that have no business coming into our Community, entering our living rooms without permission and rearranging our furniture. Sophie Maxwell and others have divided the community, there is no unity, and so now some folks will do anything for little money - stale bread crumbs.
Lack of detail community participation and involvement at the table where decision are made - at Huntersview with the John Stewart company is taking the constituents for a wild ride. The company received over a $100 million from the State of California - the Community Development entity, more from the SF Redevelopment Agency and has been slow to employ local constituents.
More has moved mostly Elderly and the Disabled into temporary inferior, Asbestos and Lead polluted homes - and treated our Elderly, our children, and innocent Public Housing folks with disdain. No American with Disabilities Act (ADA) access. What a crying shame. All this under the watchful eye of San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom and Fred Blackwell who is the Director of the SF Redevelopment Agency. Also, Dough Shoemaker who lied and has now been delegate to work somewhere else.
I did have a frank talk with Fred Blackwell a long time ago and that is all you can do. We know that no good will happen at the Hunters Point Shipyard. Lennar is over $300 million in the hole and all the promises that Lennar made - have not been kept. Again here Mayor Gavin Newsom and Fred Blackwell blindly backed the Rogue Developer - Lennar.
The same is happening at Potrero Hill, Huntersview, Sunnydale, and the old Schlage Lock site. Mostly, greedy developers seeking opportunities to grab land, tell lies, and try to hoodwink innocent people. None of these developers live in the neighborhood and if they have made some agreements - with the locals business - most of them play second fiddle and do not have the hearts and minds of the constituents that live in the area at heart
We keep saying to help the people and follow the laws but no one is paying attention to Quality of Life issues. Failing us each and every time time the Regulatory Agencies. Political forces call the Regulatory Agencies and tell them what to do and what NOT to do. Most of the time the politicians tell the developers to go against the wishes of the people - in this case the Democratic Party. Let us see what happens to them this coming November, Elections.
Time to get rid to Barbara Boxer, Diane Feinstein, and Nancy. Also, the other good for nothing politicians are have been in power for too long and leached on the innocent people that blindly give them their votes. The others so disgusted that they do not vote. How democratic is that - when most people do not vote because they do not trust those that purport they can represent them - corrupt folks, liars, make the bulk of the politicians.
Yesterday, October 20, 2010 I was at the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD). The same with this agency that is bluffing the people. We need a Stationery Monitoring Station right there at the Schlage Lock Company, closer to the Brisbane border to monitor the fumes, the methane gas, and the very dangerous particulates.
We need Empirical Date to adjudicate. The data collected must be posted on the BAAQMD website for all the world to see and review.
There are new regulations on the books, that have upped the air monitoring standards and it is a disgrace that given the new standards over 1800 homes are going to be built on this very polluted site - the old Schlage Lock Company by Arleta and Old Bayshore in San Francisco and closer to Visitation Valley and Little Hollywood.
The folks that work on this polluted site and those that live will have to breathe dangerous fumes, filthy and harmful particulates, and what is more suffer the congestion from the filthy air for years to come. And they are talking about a Park that is polluted - what type of City Planning is this? Where are the leaders? Good leaders know the way, show the way, and go the way.
The many candidates running for the District 10 elections and more corrupt folks like Lynette Sweet and Steve Moss have no clue what is happening at this site. If they have they are keeping quiet because they have been paid.
Most of the candidates running for District 10 have no clue what is happening with the CAC to the Hunters Point Shipyard, who have taken money from Greedy Developers to harm the people. These candidates and more do not have any intention to represent the people - especially the innocent but ignorant people that have no clue about Planning, the Housing Element, Health and Safety codes - the elements that go to address Quality of Life issues. The innocent presuppose they will be represented - but, in reality it does not work like that. The citizens must learn, educate themselves, speak out and take the community to a better - place.
The present corrupt local leaders - all of them are the same - they talk the talk but cannot walk the walk.
The developers will not concede to the flimsy ordinances and mock regulations that have no clout. You can pass all the Resolutions you want, even the ordinances and that are somewhat good - but, you have to have the modality in place - to take the culprits to court and bring about just - adjudication. The clout to enforce.
It is here that this City and County of San Francisco has pandered to the corrupt UNIONS - who have turned their backs on poor people and the mostly struggling populace living in the Visitation Valley, Little Hollywood, Bayview Hunters Point. At issue the Project Labor Agreement that many City Departments and the SF Mayor of San Francisco, Gavin Newsom signed to that he could get the MONEY to fill his campaign coffers. The Unions and leaders like Tim Paulson, the Trade Council and Michael Theirault have done our community - W R O N G.
Why is it becoming fashionable to build inferior homes on infill, and mostly toxic sites in San Francisco?
The answer is GREED. Sophie Maxwell, Linda Richardson, Calvin Jones, Aurelous Walker, Willie B. Kennedy, Doris Vincent, Lola Whittle, Angelo King, the many Poverty Pimp Pastors and leading the charge the Tabernacle Group - have all sold out the community.
No one cares about the Asians, the Polynesians, the Latinos, the Native Americans, the other just people - this nonsense cannot go on forever.
