Meg Whitman held a fundraiser at the Hyatt Regency in Burlingame near San Francisco International Airport with Condoleezza Rice stumping for her earlier today. More than 200 people, including union members and campaigners for "Crush Prop 23" gathered in front of the giant hotel, where they cheered and sang a song for the occasion, "Don't Let Meg Buy the Election".

Activists worried that Whitman would suspend California's landmark anti global warming law carried signs saying "Stop Texas Oil--No on 23". Proposition 23 is an oil company funded initiative that would effectively wipe out the gains won four years ago for environmental regulation with California's AB 32. Whitman has stated that she will suspend the provisions of AB 32 if elected. At the same time she has tried to paint herself as "green".

Other groups represented at the raucous protest included members of the California Teachers Association, the California Nurses Association (CNA), the Raging Grannies, and a satirical group "Oil Billionaires for Meg".

CNA made sure their "Queen Meg" and her court were on hand to keep the protesters motivated to boo the Republican candidate. Queen Meg was accompanied by another actresses portraying Condoleezza Rice, and both were cheered on by the Billionaire satirists. Meanwhile, the nurses, teachers and labor activists loudly booed the Queen and her court.

"Don't Let Meg Win the Election" was sung to the tune of Battle Hymn of the Republic. The Raging Grannies led the song and were accompanied by Francisco Herrera on guitar.
