Courtroom solidarity for July 8th arrestees needed Weds, Thurs
Folks are still being slapped with charges in connection with the events of July 8th as Oakland cops strive to keep up their numbers and hold onto their jobs. If you are available on short notice, please come out to the Wiley Manual Courthouse this morning or tomorrow morning and show your solidarity with those charged.
My understanding is that there is one arraignment Wednesday (9/21), at least three arraignments on Thursday (9/23), and one on Thursday, 9/30 at 9am. These will take place in Dept. 107 at Wiley Manuel Courthouse in Oakland (661 Washington at 7th Street). Apparently these are all NEW charges. Please be there if you can -- and get hold of an Oscar Grant: Gone But Not Forgotten button if possible to make it clear why you're there.
Of folks recently arrested in connection to July 8, apparently four people have been charged with felonies, of which three are in custody. There are over a dozen folks newly (?) charged with protest-related misdemeanors.
