A Word From Johannes....

by dave id
Email blasts from Johannes Mehserle support website below. Take the latest one as you will, the whole "Johannes the angel" message with no mention of his victim Oscar Grant. There will be pro-Mehserle events on November 4th and 5th in Los Angeles. Also, the fourth pro-Mehserle rally -- scheduled for September 17th in Martinez -- and a fundraising garage sale have been canceled.

Subject: A Word From Johannes....

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to take a few moments to update everyone on Johannes.

I had the privelege of spending some time with Johannes not too long ago and I wanted to take a moment to share with you a few things that Johannes asked that I pass on to you.

We get many requests for updates on how Johannes is doing. Let me say that Johannes has asked that I let everyone know that he is truly doing okay. He is greatful beyond words and so humbled at the outpouring of support, prayers, and good wishes that he has received from so many people, most of whom he does not even know. He could not say "thank you" enough.

Johannes told me that he has received many many letters and he wants everyone to know that he has read every single one that he has received and feels so loved and blessed. For Johannes, the length of your letter or even what you may have wanted to talk about was not as important to him as was the very simple fact that you had taken a few moments out of your day to send him a note. He said he could never express his gratitude enough.

He would like everyone to know that if you have not yet received a reply to your letter, that you please be patient as he is working on getting them sent out, however he can only send out a limited number each week. Occasionally he has items to trade with others around him and can sometimes get a few extra envelopes and paper in order to send out more, however most times it is limited. It also takes about 2 - 3 weeks and vice versa for the jail to deliver or send any correspondence just due to the sheer number or mail they have to go through each day.

During my visit, Johannes and I talked about many things. It has been a long time since I have truly been in the presense of a person who radiates grace, peace, humbleness, patience and kindness. I was blown away! Johannes has a smile and personality that lights up a room. While it was extremely difficult to see him shackled and handcuffed to the vistiting booth, that didn't stop our visit nor did it stop Johannes smile, spirit or positive attitude. Even though our visit was seperated by glass, there was no mistaking the air of peace that surrounded him... a peace that only comes when God is truly present!

During our visit, one thing Johannes wanted to talk about most was God and he shared with me just how strong his faith in God is right now. Johannes said he is keeping himself surrounded by God's word and that he will not be broken. Per his words, "there is light at the end of this tunnel".

Many of you do not know Johannes. There are many out there who make the claim that he is a "racist, ignorant murdering monster... a bad killer cop...." These statements could not be further from the truth.

NOT ONCE during our conversation did Johannes say anything negative, bad mouth anyone, or feel sorry for himself or the situation that he has faced or is currently facing. Not one negative comment. Instead, Johannes, who is very soft spoken, displayed immense grace and humbleness that for many people is even too hard to display during the simplest of times. Johannes never interupted me, was easy to talk with, was well mannered and polite, had a positive attitude and spirit, had a gentleness about him and displayed nothing but appreciation, grace, and humbleness.

One look into Johannes eyes and a few seconds in his presense and you can tell the kind of person he is. I for one, am proud to call him my friend and proud to walk beside him during this fight.

Our justice system has truly made a horrendous mistake jailing this young man for the accident that took place.

Sincerely,
http://www.justice4johannes.com

It allows people in our communities to take notice that others are standing up for Johannes and gives them a chance to realize that they too can voice how they feel and not be afraid by threats from the other side. In addition, it gives us a chance to let everyone know who and what Johannes is all about. Don't miss the opportunity to take a stand for the truth!
