San Rafael Action against Big Oil's Prop. 23

by Jonathan Cappelli (Jonathan [at] greencorps.org)
On September 5th, 40 people demonstrated in San Rafael against Prop. 23—Big Oil's "right to pollute," in front of Whole Foods on 3rd street. This showed that there are two things Californians really, really don’t like: corporations influencing American politics, and corporations ruining the environment. This fall, Valero and Tesoro are trying to do both.

So far, Valero by itself has spent over 7 million dollars to support Proposition 23. This ballot—if passed in November—will effectively repeal California’s “Global Warming Solutions Act” (AB 32) of 2006.
People in Marin County aren’t standing for it.

Another rally is scheduled this Saturday the 11th, at 11am in front of the Valero Gas station by the Northgate Mall. RSVP at the link below.
