Leon Phat's "Let's get this 'It's so sad' thing out of the way"

Date:
Saturday, August 07, 2010
Time:
12:30 PM - 1:30 PM
Event Type:
Vigil/Ritual
Organizer/Author:
Leon Phat
Location Details:
Union Square, beneath the Dewey Monument column
San Francisco

Leon Phat, SF supervisorial candidate, recognizes that many people are so sad about the economy, wages, housing, Lennar development, the environment, etc. and want to talk about doing good stuff to make things a little fairer for people; therefore, he's hosting a purgative "Sad-Fest" in the shadow of the Dewey Monument (a memorial of American good intentions imperialism).

Those who wish to express how sad they feel will be supplied with big display paper, crayons and sidewalk chalk with which to depict and reveal their feelings of sadness and helplessness.

For anyone wishing to hear a set of antidotes to low wages, poor housing, economic turgidity, city budget woes, Leon will lead a discussion regarding how community-generated land values are, in great measure, a panacea.

Weepers, bleeding heart liberals, begrudging libertarians, self-described Christians, and others who feel "It's so sad" are encouraged to come to this cathartic performance art 12 step event for those who think they're anonymous and that treating the earth as community property is too simplistic.

Kleenex will be on hand (and is useful when damp for erasing chalk on paper smudges).
