Peninsula | LGBTI / QueerAll Ages Celebrate Gay Marriage Victory
Photos by R. Robertson and E. Moran ![]() prop2010topem.jpg Mountain View's march and rally in support of marriage equality was a family friendly, all ages event yesterday. About 100 people started at the Caltrain station with a brief pre-rally, then marched to City Hall, where teachers and children had helped the Raging Grannies post up marriage rights banners and posters. In the plaza in front of City Hall, the Raging Grannies sang at the top of the program; several speakers addressed the crowd and to wind up the event members of Outlet shared their stories.
Outlet is a lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning youth organization based in Mountain View. It is the Peninsula's only comprehensive LGBTQQ group for young people. Outlet also provides support to Spanish speakers. The Raging Grannies international organization started in Victoria, B.C. (Canada) over 20 years ago. The Raging Grannies Action League, based in the Mountain View/Palo Alto area, gain inspiration from their Canadian sisters. The Grannies take on topics that concern the welfare of future generations, including lesbian, gay, and transgender rights.
