Valley Progressives rejects the choice of Sarah Palin for 50th Anniversary gala at CSU Stanislaus and the covert process of the Foundation and its officers, which lead to the selection, contract negotiations, and recruitment of Sarah Palin. “The motive of the Foundation and its officers in inviting a polarizing personality such as Sarah Palin is highly suspicious,” said Narmelin Ovrahim, a member of Valley Progressives. “The secretive conduct of Foundation and its so-called private donors raises more questions about their hidden political agenda for our Central Valley,” added Melina Juarez, senior student at California State University, Stanislaus.

Valley Progressives believe that students, staff, and faculty have to be involved in all decisions related to the public conduct of the university and its affiliated institutions including the Foundation. The public has the right to expect transparency and accountability from all organizations affiliated with the public institutions of higher education.

Valley Progressives intent is to draw attention to Sarah Palin 's use of vitriolic rhetorical fallacies that fuel divisive politics, to require transparency and accountability for all officials’ actions on behalf of the public, and to support the rights of those whose voices have been silenced by reactionary elites and main-stream media.

There will be a series of FUN-raising activities during which, the members of the community will celebrate 50th Anniversary of CSU Stanislaus in Turlock and voice their opposition to Sarah Palin’s brand of reactionary politics in our communities. Valley Progressives will also be registering voters and mobilizing volunteers for the November election. This gathering is from 3:30 pm to 7:30 pm, Friday, June 25, 2009 in Rotary International Park, 1025 Gettysburg Street in Turlock and is open to public.
