Clueless in Kandahar and Washington, DC

by DLi
In the past week the US Occupation troops were surprised by 2 daring attacks on Bagram and Kandahar air bases, launched by the Afghan Talibans. Evidently, the Afghan Resistance delivered their own version of the "Shock and Awe" pre-emptive blows to the foreign Invaders, throwing their previously-announced Kandahar offensive into further disarray.
Even before the latest daring surprise attacks by the Taliban, the US-led campaign in Kandahar was already running into strong headwinds. Due to the local animosity toward foreign Invaders, the US Occupation command purposely had chosen to call the upcoming offensive "Hamkari Baraye Kandahar, or Cooperation for Kandahar." The American chief war chief, General Stanley McChrystal, also admitted that the offensive would constitute "a unique challenge."

But in a rare display of Pentagon fantasy, McChrystal wistfully opined that the US military would "love to find an enemy that was dug in on a piece of terrain, that we could establish a D-Day and we could attack with no civilians around." (Yeah, while you're daydreaming, Mac, why don't you request the Taliban lined up fifty abreast, Redcoat-style, and armed only with 18th-century muskets, to confront your Yankee militants in an open field!?) The fierce Afghanis didn't earn the reputation for their nation as the "Graveyard of Empires" by meekly following foreign Invaders' silly wet dreams! Talk about being Clueless in Washington, DC.
