East Bay | U.S. | Health, Housing, and Public Services | Police State and Prisons | Racial JusticeWe must not stand silent about the slaughter of Aiyana Jones
There were scarcely 20 people at the vigil today at Frank Ogawa Plaza. There should have been hundreds. At the below-referenced URL, CBS News has juxtaposed a blown-up image of Aiyana Jones's grieving father against images of scantily clad woman accompanied by headlines such as "Cassie Smith Too Fat for Hooters," "Kendra Wilkins Sex Tape Scandal," "Nicki Minaj Sextape Video Scandal," and "Cannes Film Festival 2010."
http://www.cbsnews.com/2300-504083_162-10003479-5.html?tag=contentMain;contentBody According to a report published at huffingtonpost.com ( http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/05/17/aiyana-jones-7-year-old-s_n_578246.html\ ), the Detroit police department "declined to state whether it was being paid by the television show [The Next 48]." The Next 48 show apparently filmed the horror as it was unfolding. Detroit needs to hear from us, CBS New needs to hear from us, the WORLD needs to hear from us, from within the belly of the beast and on the eve of the trial of Oscar Grant's slayer..... There were scarcely 20 people at the vigil today at Frank Ogawa Plaza. There should have been hundreds. |
