Defend the plants in People's Park

by The Ghost of People's Park
Word on the street is that from May 26th - 31st, UC Berkeley maintenance workers will begin the first phase of removing plants from the west end of the Park (the garden section of the Park). People will be needed, especially in the early mornings, to guard the Park against the UC.
Word on the street is the from May 26th through the 31st, UC Berkeley maintenance workers will begin the first phase of removing plants from the west end of the Park (the garden section of the Park). UC Police will be there en mass to oversee the removal of plants for "public safety". The police will also have a list of which beds are allowed to be gardened in, and which beds are fully under the control of the UC.

The new UC policy is that plants and gardening are the cause crime in People's Park. Through various phases of action, the garden section of People's Park is to be transitioned into dirt and lawn over the summer while the students are away.

ACTIONS TO TAKE:
1. From May 20th to May 26th: People should be putting in new plants in the garden beds.
2. From 26th to May 31st: Vigilance and disruption of UC plans. Watch for maintenance workers, police
3. June-August: More vigilance and more gardening.

What public safety? Is there the danger someone might have weapons of mass destruction in the park? Maybe a baby deer might be running around the park? This shit is absurd. What about our safety from getting shot like Aiyana Jones in Detroit?

They keep destroying more and more of the park and no one's supposed to notice. Perhaps they will eventually leave the park with nothing but grass claiming it's for our own good because they need to keep a clear view of everything.

Maybe we should start considering the walls of our homes and apartments an impediment to safety. Who knows what someone might be doing in there.

I don't see any real strong outcries for oversight of oil companies like BP coming from our psychotic over-keepers. We're supposed to trust BP has got everything under control. But people are supposed to fear for their lives from some kids who might be drinking 40-Os

And be thankful they've got the police around to keep them safe.

When it comes down to it this self destructive activity is what motivates the cops, the UC, homeland security, US armed forces, the Obama administration, the House, the Senate, the Berkeley city council, and on and on ad finitum. They're definitely the real danger.
