Public invited for free rides at opening celebration with Reps. Barbara Lee and John Garamendi and other civic leaders

WHAT: A public celebration to christen Taurus, the newest high-speed environmentally-friendly vessel to join the Water Emergency Transportation Authority’s (WETA) regional ferryboat fleet. The celebration will include brief remarks by Bay Area civic leaders and free ferry boat rides.
WHEN: Monday, May 17 at 10:00am
WHERE: Oakland Ferry Terminal, at the foot of Clay Street in Jack London Square
WHO: U.S. Representative Barbara Lee; U.S. Representative John Garamendi; Berkeley Mayor Tom Bates; CalEMA Secretary Matthew Bettenhausen; Bay Area Council CEO Jim Wunderman; WETA Board Chair Charlene Haught Johnson.
FREE FERRY RIDE SCHEDULE:
Members of the public will be treated to free ferry rides aboard Taurus. Taurus will depart hourly at 10:30am, 11:30am, 12:30pm and 1:30pm.
