San Ramon Urgently Bans Pot Distrubution

by Half Baked
For the next 45 days nobody can open a medicinal marijuana dispensary or collective in the city of San Ramon, as per decree by (the Republican) Mayor Wilson and the (all Republican) City Council in an unanimous vote. In 45 days, the ban could be made permanent.
Without a vote by the citizens of San Ramon, the city council and mayor acted "URGENTLY" on May 11th to ban the distribution of medicinal marijuana through collectives or dispensaries for 45 days. The "URGENT" ban was a preemptive strike against an alleged (or hypothetical) dispensary which was going to open in the very, very near future, doping up the entire city, why won't anyone think of the children?!?...

Everyone had some kind of delusion or another. Council member David Hudson claimed that medicinal marijuana are legally allowed to drive erratically under the influence. Thus putting people's lives at risk. Of course the reality is that David Hudson is a liar and medicinal users have to obey safety standards with driving cars or they lose their license and their pot card.

Roger Peters, the Interim City Attorney, claimed that the Feds would raid San Ramon. The reality is Eric Holder and Obama have both stated that operations which met state guidelines would not be raided.

Council member Jim Livingstone said that it wasn't that much of a problem for anyone to just drive to Oakland and buy huge quantities of weed, thus eliminating the need for a local dispensary. Then why have any stores of any kind in San Ramon, when everyone can just drive to Alameda County to buy stuff - food, clothes, toilet paper?

In 45 days the issue gets revisited. Which is Republican code for in 45 days the ban becomes permanent without a vote by the public. (Take that, democracy loving hippies!)

However, if in 45 days they go further with the ban, the city could face a lawsuit from San Ramonian marijuana users.
