GMA FULLY CONSOLIDATES HER POWER WITH THE RECENT SC DECISION

by Alliance-Philippines
“ A high court for an oppressive neo-colonial and semi-feudal system, breeds oppressive laws"

The Alliance-Philippines (AJLPP) shares the bitter disappointment of Filipinos and the Filipino-American community outside of the Philippines on the recent decision of the Philippine Supreme Court allowing President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to appoint the next Chief Justice.

For the Alliance, the high court decision signaled that the US-Arroyo regime final consolidation of power is complete. GMA in her nine years at the helm has consolidated her hold on the AFP and the PNP with the ascension of the PMA Class 1978 in power; the Congress packed by her psychopaths, and now the judiciary filled with her appointees.

GMA FULLY CONSOLIDATES HER POWER WITH THE RECENT SC DECISION

Los Angeles-- “ A high court for an oppressive neo-colonial and semi-feudal system, breeds oppressive laws"

A big blow s rule of law

“It’s a big blow s rule of law,” said Senator Aquilino Pimentel Jr. adding that the decision was “another blight in the armor of the SC [Supreme Court] as an institution

But for the AJLPP this is not the first time that the Filipinos have been disappointed by the decisions of the court. One of the first acts of the US colonial creation was to order the hanging of Filipino patriot, General Makario Sakay and his lieutenants as “ bandits”.

The Filipinos vividly remember that the US-Marcos regime’s controlled Supreme Court have legitimized the 14 years of martial law. It even had a Supreme Court justice who held the parasol for Imelda Marcos.

The AJLPP believes that another GMA controlled Supreme Court is in the making patterned after the Marcos martial law supreme court.

For the Alliance, the recent developments is worth watching especially if this will impact the presidential elections on May 2010.

We call on the Filipino-American community to watch the developments with extra guarded optimism and vigilance.
