Bay Area Girls Rock Camp is looking for volunteers to teach and mentor girls!
Bay Area Girls Rock Camp is an Oakland-based non-profit organization that empowers girls through music creation and performance. Girls learn instruments, form bands, attend workshops, and perform in an environment that promotes tolerance, creativity, and self-respect. We are currently looking for new volunteers ages 19 and up to teach and mentor girls ages 8-18 at our summer camp programs.
Summer Camp is a weeklong session held at an accessible location in downtown Oakland, near the 19th ST. BART station.
Session 1 dates: June 21 - June 26, 2010
Session 2 dates: July 12 - July 17, 2010
Positions available to female and trans-identified folks:
-Band Managers (No musical experience necessary)
-Band Coaches
-Instrument Instructors (We offer bass, drums, guitar, vocals, keyboards, and turntables)
-Conflict Resolution Team Members
-Workshop Leaders (Self-defense, Screenprinting, Zine-making, Herstory of Women in Music, Songwriting, Musical Careers, etc.)
Positions available to anyone
-Roadies
-Kitchen Staff
-Front Desk Staff
