The MLPAi "Cultural Takings" Online Community Zero-Sum Game

by Tomas DiFiore
As Point Arena to Albion (40 miles as the pelican flies) continues to be excluded in the biggest game of the centuries, the Marine Life "Protection" Act (MLPA) Initiative, the line up of the stars of political timelines shift in anticipation, waiting and wanting to intersect, but the words echoed through the mist sound garbled - drill, maybe, drill.

The MLPAi "Cultural Takings" Online Community Zero-Sum Game is in play.
How we do what we do... Is as important as what we do.
It's called the "Green MeanMap" OCZSG.
The Cultural Takings and Green MeanMap Online CZSG
by the More Leases Platforms And Infrastructure PublicPrivatePartnership Group

Setup Options and System Requirements:
Language: English
Broadband Connection: Yes
Advanced Computer Skills: Yes
Large Screen or Projector for Viewing High Definition

Individual or group players use:
Dynamic Data Field Models
3-D Satellite Imagery
Sea Floor and Coastline Depth Contours
Archived Last Century Aerial Fly Over Surface Imagery
Archived Last Century Local Cultures and Localized Food Sources

Naivety and innocence framed by visions of pristine environments and preservation is advantageous in scoring higher points, but not required.

No knowledge required of North Coast coastal seaside cultures (indigenous and place based).

No knowledge required of marine environments or species migration, not even the celebrated or obvious (whales).

Players can pretend to have never caught a fish in the ocean or of having caught a 100 fish a day casting a line, or even hoist the anchor in one hand and raise the Jolly Roger in the other!

No neighborly, face to face or telephone verbal communication skills required. All needed information is supplied, and game can be played in Predator Mode with all features enabled.

Fate draws the Coyote Politics Card and then watch the game Tsunami.

Turns are now out of order of play, inverse reality language defines concepts of the new landscape/seascape;
Maze Level Politics And Integration.

Players encounter (scientific) Research Vessel Operations that are transformed into whale hunter/killer incidents. But RVO are everyone, and they are no one in the "Green MeanMap" Online CZSG. Like agents in 'The Matrix', blue is red, green is black, and black, well black is likened here to 'black gold'.

Intrigue builds, rumors rise with the tide, but the tide never recedes, and it is disclosed that the More Leases Platforms And Infrastructure instructions included with the original box versions have out-sourced localization of the game in play, and instead salutes and pollutes profit controls and market mechanisms.

"When Big Green Isn't Enough, Go For The Gold, Black Gold" must be located online and downloaded for further game play.

The Game itself comes pre-loaded with supplied entries of economics, wild caught and wild crafted food gathering, edge demographics, (global) biotic community snapshots and models, detailed topographic and nautical charts, shipwrecks, strong recreational components, science based models for "doing nothing" to "maximum sustained yield" of ocean resources, public access and resource dependent working class lifestyles, political intrigue.

Players gather dollars along the way to creating delightful eco-tourism hot spots!
Layers of digital overlay from mountain top to the sea floor.

2 Player Modes:

Predator Mode
Don't be fooled by the name, Predator Mode is the beginner mode and is quite involved and effective. Uses default settings and game cheats, pop-ups, even an ear whisperer plugin module (in surround sound) for backup and onscreen prompts.

Bystander Mode
Requires a background in community participation and outreach, LEK, TEK, tacit ability to link land and sea with adaptive management and local activities supporting sustainable harvest relationships and regulation, in conjunction with coastal ecosystem services and function.

Both Modes are interactive to degree desired.

Select Player:
Sovereign Stakeholder
Consumptive User Group stakeholder
Non-consumptive User Group stakeholder

Known Issues: Game in play is a resource hog, can freeze up:

Game Cheat: Reset button can be found under the socio-economics waste basket.

For Some, Options May Include: Co-management (requires administrative access.)

Original concept of game enterprise may be found somewhere in the last century in writings on the subject of "MAAXAM-sized Sustained Yield (from California)" and "From Beyond The Pale, at the Stock Holders and Stake Holders Steak House" and the now out of print underground "Nothing Real - Deceit Compromises" - all works from the author JAE FAGAN.
