Two SF Board of Supervisors, SFUSD Board President, other CBOs venture to take HPS tour.
David Chiu and David Campos - SF Board of Supervisors from District 3 and 9 joined Jane Kim, President of the SFUSD Board, and other CBO's like Vincent Pan from Chinese Affirmative Action, Valerie Tulier well known activist, and members of People Organized to Win Employment Rights (POWER) headed by Jaron Browne. Also, Francisco Da Costa, Director of Environmental Justice Advocacy, others - on a toxic tour of Hunters Point Shipyard - January 29, 2010.
The Hunters Point Shipyard is a toxic soup that has to be cleaned by the United States Navy that is dragging its feet - and now wants to cap the area - trying to convince the world that what is one of the most toxic sites - like Parcel E and E2 - can be handed over to the City and County of San Francisco with little or no abatement.
The City and County of San Francisco teeming with corrupt officials like Michael Cohen, Director of Mayor's Office of Economic Development, his side-kick Tiffany Bohee, other very crooked folks will then hand over the parcels - very little clean up to the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency (SFRA) - an agency that has had one of the worst records - when it comes to gentrification.
Waiting on the sidelines is Lennar, a Rogue Developer that has the worst track record when it comes to building homes on toxic sites. Building inferior homes with sheet rock imported from China containing fungi and other very hazardous material. This corporation has no respect for human beings - and prides itself by buying power - having most Black Sell Outs on its - pay roll.
Among them Angelo King, Veronica Hunnicutt, Aurelious Walker, Lola Whittle, Doris Vincent, Willie B. Kennedy, and so on.
Lennar promised to build 10,000 homes at Mare Island, affiliated to the City of Vellejo - and after ten years did nothing much. In fact LENNAR NOT only did not build the homes but declared BANKRUPTCY. The world knows about this - but our Mayor Gavin Newsom still wants to do business with Lennar.
The SF Board of Supervisors have been told everything they want to know about the Hunters Point Shipyard a long time ago. Hearings have been held - and if some of them do not know much - may be they are deaf or plain NOT interested in the pertinent issues - linked to Health and Safety.
This is one faint attempt by People Organized to Win Employment Rights (POWER) to build some consensus with other Community Based Organization - such as Chinese for Affirmative Action to impress upon two SF Board of Supervisors - David Chiu who is the SF Board President and David Campos from neighboring District 9 - to learn more about the Hunters Point Shipyard.
In fact after this tour given to the SF Board of Supervisors - David Chiu and David Camps in the company of Jane Kim and other City, Community Based Organization leaders, and some SF BOS aides - another tour was in the waiting. This tour was to be given by a dubious entity.
The dubious Michael Cohen and others were waiting to give their tour and brain wash the SF Board of Supervisors - waiting at the near by LENNAR trailers. These City Officials will never stop work for the DEVIL and Lennar directly and indirectly. And, it is this blatant defiance that must stop. Michael Cohen could have given his tour another day - but, he just wanted to mess the event and the mind set - and stick his dirty finger in the pie - and claim some victory.
Decent folks in the Bayview Hunters Point are fed up with such gimmicks. When the times comes these very corrupt City Officials - will claim they had hundreds of meetings - when they met just with a few people. Claim they have hundreds of tours - when they gave some - without informing the Public at Large. Never, ever encouraging the Public at Large to accompany them.
Ninety five percent of the Hunters Point is land-fill - poor landfill, the landfill operations having occurred at a time when they were no standards. Added Radiological contaminants and other toxic materials such as PCBs, solvents, atomic contaminated sandblast material, radials - have been buried all over the Hunters Point Shipyard.
At Parcel E right now there is a raging fire - underground. Few people know about this. Parcels E and E2 emit over 20,000 tons of Methane Gas. One ton equals twenty two tons of Carbon Dioxide.
Do you think our Mayor cares? Do you think our SF Board of Supervisors cares? Do you think the local, State, and Federal agencies care? Well, let me tell you God watches it all.
In the year 2000 the fire raged for months affecting the health of the people from the near by Public Housing by Kiska Road, Mariners' Village, and the Muhammad University. The SF Health Department looked the other way and so did the U.S. Navy. The Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD) fined the U.S. Navy a measly $250 that goes to show you - how much the BAAQMD cares about life and Quality of Life issues at that.
Recently, the SF Planning Department and the SF Redevelopment Agency brought out a Draft, Environmental Impact Report - replete with false maps, false information, and took the liberty to leave out - many pertinent issues that shocked any decent, well educated, well informed - Environmentalist and professionals that review such documents - such as Historical Architects and so on.
This Racist City continues to challenge the decent constituents - and soon they will bear the brunt of the many insults that the decent constituents have had to face.
This City and County of San Francisco does not have any standards and is bent to build 10,500 homes on land that is prone to liquefaction and flooding.
Land that is very polluted - where once Depleted Uranium was tested. Land, where hundreds of animals - that took place in the Bikini Island Atomic experiments have been buried. Land on which ships that took part in the same Atomic Operations - where brought to Hunters Point and sand blasted. The toxic sand blast buried and much of it - polluting Parcel F - that is the Bay.
The Supervisors were not cognizant of the fact that the National Defense Radiological Laboratory was first established at Hunters Point Naval Shipyard - aka Hunters Point Shipyard. The SF Board Of Supervisors have not full read the Final Historical Radiological Assessment Report. The SF BOS have not full read the Disposition and Development Agreement linked to Parcel A.
The SF BO of Supervisors as a whole have been misled by Sophie Maxwell - who represents District 10 and has a say on the adverse affects - linked to the Hunters Point Shipyard. Sophie Maxwell has chosen to side with dubious entities like the Pacific Heights Mafia and folks like Richard Swig, Diane Feinstein, Nancy Pelosi, Michael Cohen, and a host of other dubious characters that do not respect less have compassion for a people that are suffering.
The people living in close proximity to Parcel E and E2 with high winds - over 60 miles per hour blowing have adversely affected those living in and around Kiska Road, Hunters View, Middle Point, Oakdale Public Housing Project, Candlestick Point, Executive Park, James Town and beyond.
These ares were bombarded with toxic pollutants much of it radiological in nature - but, this Racist, City and County of San Francisco does not give a hoot. Time will tell.
The SF Board of Supervisors can stop the operations of Lennar in more then one way to evaluate the damage caused and test the children and other vulnerable population - such as our Elders . They can control the SF Redevelopment Agency from fast tracking any valid process such as the dubious Environmental Impact Reports.
Stop the SF Public Utilities Commission from laying infrastructure that has been contaminated with heavy Asbestos Structures that will contaminate - our standing Clean Water and Waste Water operations.
