New Northern California TV Show - Unstacking the Deck

by Jason Robo (unstackingthedeck [at] yahoo.com)
The show is a response to the narrow special interest serving perspective of mainstream news media coverage that leans toward sensationalism and celebrity rather than truth and substance. The program is hosted by Humboldt County residents Jason Robo and Kyle Beattie, both recent graduates of Humboldt State University's department of Political Science. Robo and Beattie seek to provide coverage and analysis through the lense of tyranny, liberty and an alarming tendency towards centralization of power.

“We started this program to highlight outrageous news articles that are selectively out of the focus of mainstream media since such knowledge is a formidable threat to the entrenched power systems of media, advertisers and ultimately bankers,” Robo said. “We want to expose our audience to news, books, films and people who our viewers won't see in the mainstream, Unstacking the Deck is an alternative source of news and information for the conscious audience locally and beyond,” Beattie added.

Unstacking the Deck Examines Political System

ARCATA, CA -- A new locally produced television program, Unstacking the Deck, discusses and examines local/state/national/international news events, books, documentaries, activists and freedom preservation tips. Unstacking the Deck hopes to serve the citizens of Humboldt County, and beyond, by providing an alternative to the mainstream news media and a forum where the community's concerns can be discussed.

Unstacking the Deck's first episode discusses the events of 9/11 and the nanothermite found in the dust of the World Trade Center rubble. The guest, Gregg Roberts, is co-author of an article that appeared in the scholarly peer-reviewed Open Chemical Physics Journal, “Active Thermitic Material Discovered in Dust from the 9/11 World Trade Center Catastrophe.” Roberts talks with Robo and Beattie about the suspicious materials found in the 9/11 rubble and the implications of it not being addressed by the so-called “official story” nor the 9/11 Commission.

The show can be viewed on Humboldt Public Access television and online at the show blog featuring links to all the shows featured content. The URL is: http://unstackingthedeck.ning.com

The show's second episode will look at the false left-right paradigm and feature special guest David Cobb, the 2004 Green Party presidenial nominee and leader of a grassroots activist strategy group Democracy Unlimited Humboldt County. Each weekly episode will feature profiles and interviews with different prominent local voices in the peace and justice, environmental and human rights movements. Environmentalist Author Derrick Jensen will be featured on an environmentally themed episode. An upcoming episode on the mainstream media will present Joe Shermis, the publisher of the local Steelhead Special, a “working class cultural & literary review.”
