Black Farmers from throughout the nation will rally toward closing the final chapter on the historic Pigford Class Action Lawsuit at the Washington D.C. Black Farmers Rally on February 15 and on February 19 in Raleigh~Durham we will celebrate our Black History Month and our Black Agriculture in the 21st Century Awards Celebration. In the spirit of President Barack Obama's State of the Union Address, "We do not give up. We do not quit. We don't allow fear or division to break our spirit."
Washington D.C. ~ President Barack Obama summed up our great legacy, “We do not give up. We do not quit. We don't allow fear or division to break our spirit.”
Nationwide Black agriculturalists, consumers, students and business owners will join a host of community organizations, government agencies and industry leaders to attend timely Black History Month Research Triangle Park Agriculture Symposium.
Our Black Agriculture in the 21st Century Awards Celebration will highlight a full day of events Friday, February 19, 2010 at the Embassy Suites, Research Triangle Park, NC.
A tribute to Dr. John Hope Franklin will celebrate our journey “From Enslavement to Freedom” and highlight overcoming challenging opportunities as we work toward achieving equity and economic opportunity throughout our U.S. agricultural industry.
Together, we can provide innovative advocacy, educational outreach toward expanding youth job creation, career development and sustainable communities in partnership with the USDA 2010 Outlook vision of the Obama Adminstration.
The evening program will include feature our co~hosts Dr. Zelia Wiley, Kansas State University and Dr. Dr. Sacoby M. Wilson, University of South Carolina, as well as keynote speaker Dr. Makola Abdullah, Florida State Agriculture and Mechanical University.
“This event is shaping up to be a wonderful evening and an important milestone to celebrate new opportunities for Black Agriculture in the 21st Century” according to Michael Harris event Chair.
“Our event program is designed to honor our award winners for their excellent work over the years and demonstrate the new paradigm of amazing opportunities throughout all aspects of the U.S. Agriculture industry.”
We must demonstrate operational unity and be the change President Obama seeks and move quickly toward clearly communicated goals that support Black Agriculture, lead by First Lady Michelle Obama.
