Mirrors in Every Corner
This theatre work chronicles the life of an African American family in Oakland alternately in the present and in 1988 after a mother gives birth to a white baby. Examining how race is lived in and through the body, this world premiere looks at the real and fictive construction of race. Against the backdrop of some of the most defining moments in recent US history, a family grapples with what it means to be black, what it means to be a family unearthing the complexities of race and identity in contemporary America.
