The California Coalition For Workers Memorial Day and the Peninsula Raging Grannies are calling on the Tesla management and the Google major stake holders Larry Page and Sergey Brin along with former owner of Paypal Elon Musk and Tesla CEO to stop any plans to build a Tesla auto assembly plant on the Downey toxic dump site. At present, they are moving ahead with plans to build a “green” auto assembly plant at the toxic downey dump site in Southern California where hundreds of workers have been sickened. IATSE Local 44 movie propmaker and former Downey Studio worker Steve Basile visited the world headquarters of Tesla in San Carlos on December 9, 2009 and was told by Tesla Vice President for communications Ricardo Reyes that they were concerned and would make arrangements to meet with the workers. Instead Reyes and Tesla have refused to return email and calls from the injured movie workers at the Downey site.

Tesla has received a $465 million loan from the Obama Department of Energy DOE to build the non-union assembly auto plant.
The Peninsula Raging Grannies are active supporters of “green” technology and electric cars but do not believe that Tesla should be building or considering to build such a site at a former Super Fund toxic dump site where IATSE movie propmakers and SEIU Kaiser workers have become sickened. The site owner and toxic developer Stuart Lichter who owns IRG and toxic dump sites around the country recently lost a SLAPP suit in which he charged the injured workers and advocates had slandered him and his business. Has Tesla learned the results of this suit of Stuart Lichter to cover up the deadly dangers at the toxic dump site?
Concerned workers, residents and supporters of Green cars should contact Tesla to let them not that this is not “green” engineering and planning.
