Indymedia is back !

After 5 months off-line the Israel Indymedia web site is back up with a new content management system and new servers. The collective is hopeful that the new and improved system will attract more editors and contributors.

At the end of July the Indymedia site went off line due to technical problems with the old servers which might have been a result of a deliberate attack. With the help from the global Indymedia network and in particular the linefeed collective and Scotland Indymedia, Indymedia Israel now runs on the very robust Drupal content management system.

The current Drupal system is the 4th content management system used by Indymedia Israel since its beginning in 2000; From 2000 to 2003 a version of the Mir code base was used. Then in 2004 after the original site was taken down by the Israeli police the site ran on a custom built Zope system which was replaced by Dada-imc in 2005. The Dada-imc system ran till July 2009 when that was also taken down to now be replaced by Drupal.

The current Drupal system includes all of the content of the Dada-imc system. That is, Indymedia history back to 2005. The other databases still need to be incorporated into the Drupal system. Those with with SQL and Drupal experience who are able to help with that integration are encouraged to contact the collective through contact [at] israel.indymedia.org.
