U.S. should IMPORT democracy!
Washington has justified its militant intervention in Central Asia on the need to export democracy to nations in the area, including Afghanistan and Pakistan. But the recent display of judicial independence by Pakistan's Supreme Court--in its repeal of immunity for the sitting President Zadari's corruption charges--show that Pakistan apparently has a more robust democratic process in its judiciary than what presently exists in the United States.
In striking down the immunity given to current President Zidari from corruption charges brought against him some years back, the Pakistan judicial system has proven its independence. Contrast that with the dysfunctional "justice" system in the current USA regime under Obama, where the DoJ has actually sought blanket immunity for former officials in the Bush administration who were clearly involved in the notorious torture policies(such as John Yoo, Donald Rumsfeld, even ex-VP Dick Cheney). Moreover, Obama himself has repeated said that his regime wishes only to "go forward," thereby suppressing any movement to prosecute war crimes committed by top Bush apparatchiks. Evidently, the lack of independence of the U.S. judicial system is a sure sign this country's so-called democratic process is seriously flawed. Indeed, perhaps it's time for the USA empire to start IMPORTING democratic practices from abroad(from Pakistan's independent judicial system, for one)!
