Krayut, settlers attack Palestinian, Police arrests the victim and offers me to become an informer

by MC
On Wednesday, December 16, members of Rabbis for Human Rights, Taayush and Anarchists Against the Wall joined Palestinians in Krayut ( occupied West Bank) in securing them and helping them work their land. The day began normally, the farmers take wheat seeds, throw them around and turn the ground with tractors. There is something magical in connecting to earth (even with the filters of technology) that I don’t get much of in the city.

§Moshe Moshkovitz

Two settlers arrive after an hour and tell us to go away. They totally ignore the Palestinian, since according to their line of thought it is the leftists that instigate the whole event, while the Palestinian are passive actors with no wishes or goals of their own (other than killing Jews). Moshe Moshkovitzan immigrant from Europe, (seen in the photo on the right side, on the left side is Rabbi Asherman from Rabbis for Human Rights), explain to us that God gave him this land. Memorizing selective sentences from the bible, he inform us that when it comes to “rescuing” the land of Israel, Jaws cannot show any mercy, “or the anger of god will be upon them.” He accuse us of not being real Jews, since Im a secular Jew (and i might add an atheist) and Rabbi Asherman is a Reform Jew. He ends with noting that after all, we are receiving money from European countries, who would like to subsidize this kind of anti-Semitic activity. I tell Moshe that I do not receive any European money (unlike the state of Israel) and ask him if he feels more comfortable taking money from evangelical Christians in the US, who propagate Anti-Semitic ideology (while supporting Israel), and believe that by donating to Israel’s most extreme forces, they can inflame the war between Palestinians and Jews to bring the end of time.

"this is a Palestinian land" says Rabbi Asherman. Rabbi Asherman was the Rabbi of a couple of Jewish congregation in the US, among them serving for five years as Rabbi of Hillel in Davis.
on the far right Bashar can be seen staying away from the whole altercation and simply filming.

The military arrives, and does not do anything. The settlers get annoyed by the passive military action, and move to block the tractors with their bodies.

while we are trying to remove the settler on the left from blocking the tractor, he yells 'dont touch me, female!" ("female" is considers to be a curse in Israel).

In the occupied territories, any and all accusation against a Palestinian by settlers can lead to months in jail. For Example, an Israeli citizen can only be held by the police for 24 hours without seeing a judge, while a Palestinian can be held for 8 days. The settlers are aware of that and move to push Bashar who is just standing filming. Bashar and Rabbi Asherman push back which allows the settler to go on a whole dramatic acting of someone who was hurt badly. The other settler, knowing the rles of the game, calls an ambulance and the police.

The police, more soldiers and medics arrive. The police proceeds to arrest Bashar for assault, while not even questioning Moshkovits. while Bahsar is handcuffs and lead to a police car, Moshkovits is having small talk and is shaking hands with military personals.
Sharon (seen in the middle left side of the picture in civilian clothe), a detective from the local police station asks me for my ID. he asks me where am i from and what am i doing here. i tell him that i take pictures and write articles for a website overseas. he takes me away from everyone to ask me if i would like to stay in touch with him when this whole event is over. I tell him that i already have girlfriend and that I'm really not interested in him. He laughs nervously and says that i did not understand what he meant. he would like us to meet and for me to inform him about solidarity actions in the west Bank. I tell him that i doubt that that would ever happen, that im here to pursue justice. He says that I'm naive and new in the activist scene, that i should think about it. he looks me in the eyes and says "its not about justice, everyone has their personal interests here, everyone".
i ask him for his full name, which at first he refuses to give me. "what for" he asks, "its Sharon Dror, but i don't want to see my name appear in one of your articles".
