HALF the way...

by (with Obama)
Will progressive Dems
be marching again
in spring 2010,
against Obama's war?]

.................
Dear queers and allies,

Long ago,
during the Lyndon B. Johnson presidency,
some leftists chanted
"Half of the way with LBJ"--
meaning that they liked his "Great Society" proposals
(such as Head Start),
and his support for civil rights --
but NOT the Vietnam War
[which LBJ inherited from Ike and JFK].

Now, progressive Democrats in Congress
are beginning to oppose Obama's renewal of the Afghanistan war.

War is NOT the hope they voted for.

So we're getting past the silly idea that Obama is magic;
or that he somehow trans-cends the Democratic Party.
Actually, he's a centrist with progressive tendencies,
like Carter and the Clintons.

I knew that when I voted for him in November 2008;
but that's okay.
I'm glad when a Democrat gets elected President (instead of a Republican);
and I know that I'll eventually be marching to protest
some of the Democrat's policies.

HALF THE WAY
with O-ba-ma!
