California | Central Valley | Education & Student ActivismReport from the occupied library at CSU Fresno
Over 100 CSU Fresno students and their supporters occupy the closed library. At 5pm tonight over 100 people refused to leave when the CSU Fresno library closed for the day. The students and their supporters are conducting a "Study In" to protest tuition increases and reduced services on campus. The Dean of library services said students could remain until a scheduled 10pm press conference. At 10pm he would re-evaluate the situation. If students leave the building they can not return. There is only one campus cop monitoring the entrance to the library with about 15 supporters on the outside.
Channel 30 has delayed their report of the occupation until the 11 pm newscast. Their teaser indicates arrests are possibly being planned for sometime after the 10 pm press conference--"they may be leaving in handcuffs."
