Kudos to Supervisor David Campos for the Ordinance of behalf of immigrant youth in SF.
Kudos to Supervisor David Campos from District 9 in San Francisco for taking a stand and giving those immigrant youth a chance to appear before some judicial authority before being deported for just having NO legal documents. Many youth have been tortured and others killed just because they could not defend their innocence. Deportation has adverse impacts - when the youth are put in harms way and that happens all the time.
For many years innocent immigrant youth have been deported to the countries without any FAIR adjudication before the authorities. Many a times the youth have been hear in the United States for years. In some cases they do not speak Spanish - having spoken English since they were very young or from birth.
Imagine being deported to some country that treats these innocent youth like dirt. It is true we are a Sanctuary City but there are many loop holes in our Immigration Laws.
All of us are immigrants to this Nation except the First People or the Native Americans. In our case the First People of San Francisco are the Muwekma Ohlone. Supervisor David Campos has the blessings of the Muwekma Ohlone and I have told him so - on this pertinent issue.
The Ordinance passed by the SF Board of Supervisors gives those innocent immigrant youth, an opportunity to be represented in court and if they are innocent - take measure for their safety and progress. If they are found to have a criminal record - justly adjudicated.
This law does not shelter criminals. If one is found to be associated with criminal activity - then by law they deserve to suffer the required consequences.
Supervisor David Campos took pains to defend the innocent immigrant youth and others. I commend him for taking this very bold stand and what is more explaining to the many that seem not to care about the welfare of human beings and especially our immigrant youth - that justice can be given to those that deserve justice according to the law of this Nation - the United States of America.
Supervisor once an illegal immigrant - who became legal and went on to Law School, representing so many sound organizations - is now our legal Supervisor representing District 9 and doing yeoman service to those that need representing and support. Kudos to David Campos.
I just happened to be next to Supervisor David Campos at City Hall yesterday, and having my camera at hand did the needful:
