RECOUNT OF SF PROTEST
OCT 14, GLOBAL RALLIES AND PROTESTS
AGAINST ELECTRONIC TORTURE.
(last names withheld for safety reasons)
We were a "crowd" of about 20 "Targeted Individuals" & Allies with signs brought by Bruno, Richard, Tim , Christine, the Kats Family, Scott, John and Judy
Among us, a Black Sister, college professor of Political Science in Oakland, accompanied by a Latina and a white women/TIs.
Also was present a San Franciscan woman, former EGG Tech who blew the whistle on her medical unit at PMC, when she saw several patients with electrodes in their brain, and realized from their encephalograms that something terribly wrong was being done to them... she disconnected them,
and her electronic torture started that did not let up over the last decade.
At first the cops, then the sheriffs tried the intimidating routine by demanding to see a permit ,
but when told:
"we are not blocking traffic, we are only exercizing our right to peaceful assembly, this is a peaceful demonstration" ,
they did not know what else to do.
Then when they approached us again, twice, I gave them a big smileand asked:
"Are you going to keep us safe, Officers?"
which was sufficient to make them instantly go away after exclaiming "But Of course !"
One sheriff, astoundingly, raised a timid fist and quickly told us
"GO GET 'EM !" as he walked away with his colleagues
(Refreshing ! A "TI" cop ? )
Christine, Richard, the Kats Family, Carole, Judy, John, Yolanda, Carol , Bruno, Marlon, educated onlookers and passed on flyers and Bruno passed out Buttons.
SF Based Tom MCray, TI and political writer,
then a homeless man
A Veteran for Peace, published poet, who actually wore many political buttons,
among them one reading Ban Covert Surveillance:
Robert Wegan , who is the acclaimed Honorary chief of the Native Nation, although he is of european descent, due to his longstanding activism for Natives and Aborigines and tireless fight to ban School of the Americas and ROTC.
Robert happened to just be waiting for a friend on City Hall steps, and enthusiastically interacted with us, exclaiming: "We are ALL targeted !".
Sophie Maxwell,
City supervisor of district 10 quickly shied away,
But a campaign team member of a prominent Candidate for District Supervisor read our flyers and promised to stay in touch.
Many participants actively engaged passerby's,
including an Asian Gay Youth who now wants to be an ally to our movement.
No negative interaction whatsoever!
(To the exception of a routine, habitual loser...
older white dude in a SUV who sped by, hollering:
"Go get a job!"
Which made us laugh.... Comic relief of the day)
One press interview with Christine Lynn Harris, and meha Irizarry
who handed out a press package to SF VIdeoPress,
Christine connected with the City Hall Court TV Media Liaison,
and participants took many pictures and videos of our event (that we must get permission from individual protest participants to publish here, out of concern for their safety)
For a first, Huge Success !
Marlon Crump from Poor Magazine PPN came to interview participants, stayed with us during the entire event, and will work on his third article on "Targeted Individuals" that he will submit to his editor, the formidable "Tiny" Gray Garcia !
Violence in any form is a Public Health issue !
Injustice to One i Injustice to ALL @
Activists against Electronic Torture of Private Citizens came to join us from :
Modesto,
Fresno,
Marin County,
Oakland,
Berkeley,
Our core team is talking about making it a monthly event,
either still City Hall,
but also in front of the SF Chronicle newspaper,
where there is a lot of foot traffic.
We could also "target"
all Bart Stations, the old Mint,
and the Federal & State buildings.
The most endearing marker for us was to see
the visible, profound camaraderie and empathy of all participants towards each other.
and that we were not met even once with skepticism, incredulity or mockery by any onlookers who inquired around what our rally & Protest was all about !
(The Collective Unconscious KNOWS)
The Global Movement at street level is in full motion,
and there'no stopping dat train !
There's no Power
Like the Power of the People
kuz the Power of the People Don't Stop !
The SF Targeted Individuals Empowerment Collective is planning a protest in San Francisco on Dec. 10, 2009, 61th International Human Rights Day.
