Historic Leidesdorff Ranch: Green Sustainable Development
Northern California regional community stakeholders, government officials, environmental stewards, land developers and business leaders will come together to celebrate the past, present and future of Historic Leidesdorff Ranch while preparing for the establishment of the William Alexander Leidesdorff, Jr. Bicentennial Commission.
Sacramento, California ~ In 1844, Honorable William Alexander Leidesdorff, Jr., first Black Jewish diplomat in U.S. History, acquired the 35,000 acre Leidesdorf Ranch to promote "Green Sustainable Development" along approximately 15 miles of the American River Parkway in Sacramento County.
Today, proposed multi-billion dollar development projects south of the William Alexander Leidesdorff, Jr. Memorial Highway 50 corridor include the City of Folsom South Annexation, Connector JPA Expressway, Aerojet General rezoning and City of Rancho Cordova continuing growth.
These and other major projects must balance economic development and significant environmental impacts upon pristine undeveloped land within Sacramento county.
U.S., California and Regional environmental protection laws may guide responsible utilization of limited natural resources toward possible smart growth of this unique California cultural heritage, the undeveloped region of Historic Leidesdorff Ranch.
