I can state for a FACT that the Bar 20 dairy between Kerman and Mendota, a BIG operation that has only gotten MUCH larger since, had a BIG rack full of Bovine Growth Hormone upstairs. The Manager of the dairy told me it was no big deal, just like adding steroids to them to produce more milk, maybe 10 gallons a day. Of course, at the time Producers milk carried a BGH FREE label.
Now they have modified it to say something like "As far as we know, our suppliers dont use BGH" Despicable. And let me tell you, after spending only a few moments (much less than one hour) in the area where they milk cows, I was covered with manure, which simply floats in the air, and woke up during the next few nights tasting the stuff afterwards. Thats only the tip of what is wrong with concentrated large scale dairy operations in the valley. try drinking the water in Riverdale. try buying a fountain drink at the convenience mart. They pretty much refused to sell me one if I didnt know what it would taste like. Anything for a buck. |
