KPFK's Management Targets Informativo Pacifica
Informativo Pacifica, a half hour national and international newscast produced in Spanish by volunteers at Pacifica's KPFK radio station in Los Angeles, has been cut and rescheduled without warning. Instead of broadcasting Monday through Friday at 5:30am, the show was rescheduled to 9:00pm and only four days a week, Monday through Thursday.
This decision by KPFK's managemnt will effect at least a dozen community radios in the US, Colombia, Venezuela and Mexico which rebroadcast Informativo Pacifica. The show was pulled from the airwaves of KPFT in Houston and replaced with programming from the BBC in English. A conflict has also erupted between programmers at Free Radio Santa Cruz over Informativo Pacifica. Read more
