MAXXAM MLPA and Fish Unlimited
Join Commercial, Recreational, and Subsistence food harvesters to STOP the MLPA (this is the Preferred Alternative. The MLPA is the back door to Offshore Oil. Conceived as law in 1999 in response to mismanaged fisheries/politics, the science was there all along, the MLPA was hijacked by the Betty Moore Foundation. The President of MAXXAM Inc, ENRON, KAISERTECH, and many other oil related firms, Dr. John M. "Mick" Seidl, by June 5th, 2001 was the Environmental Grant Program Director for the Foundation's first 4 years. Almost every company Dr. John was president of since the 70's has gone bankrupt. The MLPA Initiative could bankrupt our Ocean (EEZ) and our Coastal Communities. The "Backdoor to Oil".
Hi all,
The North Coast Seaweed Stewardship Alliance of Mendocino County and the parallel Seaweed Rebellion in Mendocino County are involved with the local and (Statewide) fishing groups. Natives, Coastal Governments, Harbor Districts, etc. to halt the MLPA process. John Lewallen and Barbara Stephens Lewallen of Mendocino Sea Vegetable Company hosted the Fisheries reality tour in Point Arena 061309 attended by 70 locals and media and politicos (on our side).
everyone ate real well of freshly harvested 'see food' from the proposed MLPA closure of Sea Lion Cove near Point Arena. Visit UTube, search for Sea Lion Cove Abalone.
Myself, I am a commercial Seaweed Harvester for Ocean Harvest Sea Vegetable Co.
Another company involved is Rising Tide.
Well, one thing leads to another and the conclusion is that the MLPA must be stopped... completely halted, etc.... this attached 197kb PDF can be downloaded at

The Seaweed Rebellion icons take you right to a page with an obvious graphic/download link to the original Seaweed Rebellion brochure - important and all info is sourced with active links.
It is a 1.2 MB download because of the graphic, 9 pages in all, contact list for politicians etc....
Be sure to download the companion PDF to this one.

We're still encouraging people to put in a day to stop the MLPA this next Wednesday Aug. 5. This is a very key MLPA hearing by Fish & Game Dept. We need as many people there with talking points for the "public comment" period.
When & Where: 10:00 AM, Yolo Flyer's Club, Woodland, CA.
Estimated driving time from Mendocino Coast: 3 hrs. 45 min.
Carpooling: Contact us if you need a ride or have a ride. (707)895-2996
This is not an outdoor public "demonstration" scene, nor a tabling scene. People be ready for three minutes of glory, on public-record forever with video and voice. Could be a heat wave, Jim Martin says there's a hot parking lot outside, about 115 last time he was there.
