5th Annual Old Time American Flag Burn: A SUCCESS!
by Brent
Sunday Jul 5th, 2009 2:17 PM
Many attended this community event and several shared in the ritual.

We gathered at the beach alongside the other Independence Day weekend fire-pit revelers and, as they looked on, we held our flag burning ritual. 20 or so folks, most of whom didn't already know eachother, circled around the raging fire and shared their perspectives and why burning a flag is important to them. Brent gave a short history of the event and why it is important to him to create a safe space to exercise this rarely demonstrated freedom. We hung out around the fire getting to know eachother and sharing the warmth of the fire. Look forward to joining us next year.

It was a success. Maybe it wouldn't have been a success if someone accidentally brought flags with flame retardant or releasing toxic fumes that knocked everyone down.
