California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger seems so determined to shred the state's social safety net, and, privatize everything existing, that he's standing bulldoggedly in the way of any revenue hikes, including oil and gas severance taxes that would raise $1 billion this year. And insisting on $1 billion in budget cuts which will cost the state $5 billion in federal funds.

Too bad California State IOUs won’t be accepted in payment for state taxes and services like state bonds were in Argentina. Too bad California State IOUs will be denominated too big to use as local currency. Too bad Argentina people were smart enough to avoid the tent-cities catastrophe and California people are too stupid to follow their example.
