Israeli Minister for Public Security Aharanovitch visits the Temple Mount/Haram Assharif
End Police Presence in Holy Places
Today (June 23, 2009), Israeli Minister for Public Security Yitzhak Aharanovitch (Avigdor Lieberman's party) visited the Temple Mount/Haram Assharif, only days after publicly using a racist slur ("arabush") against Arabs. Large police forces, armed to the teeth, descended on the Temple Mount without any real justification, with the sole purpose of creating strife. As we all remember, Ariel Sharon's visit to the Temple Mount nine years ago led to wide protest across the Muslim world, protest that culminated in the al-Aqsa Intifada (the Second Intifada or the Intifada of 2000), which claimed many lives on both sides of the Green Line. While Obama reaches out to the Muslim world with a gesture of peace, Aharanovitch makes a rude gesture and a boastful show of power, which is not only unnecessary but also dangerous.

While Aharanovitch's visit is receiving wide media coverage and main headlines in the Muslim world, in the west it has barely made to the back pages.
It is no longer only an isolated Lieberman calling in his book My Truth to turn Israel into a "crazy country". Now his men run the police force. Even former Chief of Police Assaf Hefetz, defends Aharanovitch: "Terms such as 'yehudon' (i.e. 'kike') and 'arabush' are totally acceptable in our language, in our generation a person that looks dirty is an 'arabush'. He seemed Arab to him, so he called him an 'arabush'. And had he called him 'Arab' would that have been any better? ...."
Enough is enough! It is not "only slang", and not "a joke" and "totally acceptable"! We will not sit around waiting for bloodshed to begin.
= Civil Protest =
Tomorrow (June 24, 2009), we will begin wide and peaceful civil protest. We urge all those who disagrees with Aharanovitch's visit to arrive at their local police station and file a complaint against the Minister for Public Security for disturbing public order and endangering the public. We hope that until the day's end, tens, hundreds or even thousands of complaints against the racist minister will be filed, and we will be able to demand his immediate dismissal. We are calling to leave the Holy Places to the sovereignty of the Almighty and refrain from giving weapons, police forces, and flesh and blood armies any authority in these places.
For your information, filing a complaint is a civil right, and police officers are obliged to write down everything you have to say, word for word.
You may also file a similar complaint to the police's Internal Affairs Department or the Chief Government Appraiser.
